“That was regrettable. That was kind of an exchange with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a radio appearance. “There was a large group of Dallas supporters—not New York fans, our fans. The whole venue was brimming with excitement for the Dallas team.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the gesture was entirely accidental, occurring amid the excitement following the team’s last score. “I just showed the wrong finger,” he noted. “It was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. Should you call it accidental, you can. However, it got resolved rapidly.”
