The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure Regarding Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
It has advised users to examine their items and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Changes
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices due to shopper criticism.
